Weekly Giveaway – The Nursing T Shirt Tess Bra by Nummies

By Heather Ledeboer | Category: Mom 4 Life News & Giveaways | Posted Friday, November 30, 2007

Happy Friday.  So for the first time in weeks I totally forgot to post our winner first thing in the morning, so sorry about that.  Things are good here.  We are still enjoying our snow and our Christmas decorations.  I had my dr. appt for the month yesterday and all looks good.  For all my extra eating I expected to have gained more than I did actually so that was a nice surprise.  We have an ultrasound next week on Tuesday at the Open Arms Pregnancy Care Center in town.  They were nice enough to offer to let us come in for fun to do one.  As I mentioned before, we don’t plan to find out the sex of the baby which is kind of hard for two planners such as my husband and myself but I think it will be fun to wait and be surprised especially since we already have a boy and a girl.  Something fun I discovered lately is that Hunter (my son) is a tea drinker!  He has been enjoying a daily cup of herbal tea with me and it is pretty cute to see him have fun picking out his flavor each day.

Ok so on to the giveaway news. . . our winner for the LilyPod this week was #3 as chosen by Random.Org.  This was Bree, congratulations!!  We will have the LilyPod on sale for 10% off for the next week for the rest of you.  Thank you for all your feedback last week, I am still sorting through it all:)!

Tessfrontviewicon_2 This week we are giving away a great bra for the holidays.  The Nursing T Shirt Tess Bra by Nummies.  The wonderful thing about this bra is that it has molded cups that hide your nursing pads and it can’t be seen under your white shirts.  I have found that it is hard to find nursing bras with molded cups!

Another thing that I think is totally cool is that the straps are versatile and can be adjusted to be crossed in the back if needed!  So no matter what fun outfit you plan to wear for the holidays, this bra has you covered!  The retail price is $49.99.  You can win yours here by simply leaving a comment below letting us know which item in our New Items category you like best:)!  You have until Dec 4 at midnight PST to enter, good luck.

It is Cool to Breastfeed

By juliejohnson | Category: The Journey of Motherhood | Posted Wednesday, November 28, 2007

Celebrity_brestfeeding For some reason we like to know how celebrities live and if they do the same things we are do as normal people. We hear of their fashion, dating, and, surprisingly, we also hear who is breastfeeding their babies. In a world so caught up in vanity, a lot of Hollywood moms obviously think it is cool to breastfeed their children.  Even though these moms give their children the best education, the most expensive clothes and the most professional nannies money can buy, breastmilk doesn’t cost a thing.

The wonderful thing about breastfeeding is that no matter what financial background we come from, each baby receiving their mothers’milk is receiving the same advantages.  It is no surprise to anyone that breastmilk is superior then artificial baby milk.  Do we really know what those advantages are?  Babies who are receiving breastmilk will not only have less incidences of diarrhea, ear infections, bladder infections, or RSV, but are also less likely to get asthma, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, or Crones disease as adults. Brain development and higher IQ are added bonuses.  Basically, whatever family diseases run in your family, you protect your child from those particular health concerns when you breastfeed.  That would certainly explain rock star Gwen Stephani saying, “Breastfeeding gives her super human powers.”

Please share immediate advantages you’ve seen in your breastfeeding experience that have been beneficial for you or for your baby.

Food Fun by Heather Ledeboer

By Heather Ledeboer | Category: It Worked 4 Me | Posted Tuesday, November 27, 2007

Food_fun I know this idea is not something new but it works for us. . . sometimes when I want to get my son to eat something I will try making it into something fun looking.  We have been doing trees lately with grapes (for the leaves), carrots (for the trunk and grass), dried peaches (as clouds), and raisins (for the soil).  Hunter loves to eat these pictures and asks for more.  I think next time I will use canned green beans for the grass as He is not a fan of "green" foods and see how that goes.

Have any of you tried this trick?  Did it work?  What did you make?  What foods did you use?

I am dreaming of a white Christmas by Heather Ledeboer

By Heather Ledeboer | Category: Surprize Me! | Posted Monday, November 26, 2007

Dsc_3326 Yipeee!  It is snowing!  Ok so I pretty much am reduced to a child again seeing the snow fall.  One of the things my husband and I missed so much when we lived in CA was seeing the seasons change.  We have been WAITING for the snow to come.  The weatherman said it would come today and no snow BUT we looked outside just now and behold the ground is WHITE:).  Winter is here.  Have I mentioned that it is dark here around 4PM?  Ya pretty great. . . we get to show off our Christmas lights that much sooner in the evenings LOL!

Oh yes Christmas lights, we have them up already!!  We are pretty into the holiday season. . . tree up, lights on, gingerbread house constructed:).  Now ask me if I have done any of my Christmas shopping and you won’t be nearly as impressed, oh well:).

How about you guys?  Who has decorated already?  Lights up?  How about Christmas shopping?  Oh!  Don’t forget to check out the Mom 4 Life Christmas Special–Get $10 for Mom 4 Life for every $50 you spend. Dsc_3323_3

Working Through That Thanksgiving Day Turkey Feast

By kimevans | Category: Fit 4 Life | Posted Monday, November 26, 2007

Kim Happy Thanksgiving to you all.  WOW, Thursday’s meal was great…I thoroughly enjoyed the turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pies, ice cream, etc…you name it and I likely had some ☺.  But, now that the big day and feast are mere memories it’s time to move those legs and exercise through it.  What our family is going to do is go on a hike.  As I’ve mentioned before, we live in San Diego, so thankfully the weather is letting us enjoy the outdoors.  We are going to all enjoy a hike together with some new friends.  I just recently joined a mommy’s group and a hike has been planned for everyone.  So, with our 2 year old strapped in the BOB and our 8 week old in the Baby Bjorn, my husband, dog and brother-in-law will join the rest of the group for the hike.  If you are able to do something similar, please remember to:
-    Pack plenty of water and a protein snack for you and the kids;
-    Apply sun screen and wear a hat (because even on the cloudy days the nasty UV rays are coming through, and to take it easy;
-    Exercise caution.  If you feel winded or pain of any sort take a break, sit down or stretch and when you’ve recovered give it another go;
-    Have fun and enjoy the time together as a family.

How did you burn off your Thanksgiving day feast?

Happy hiking,
Kim
