Don’t let facebook make decisions for you

By Heather Ledeboer | Category: Current Affairs | Posted Tuesday, August 28, 2012

It’s no fun to be left out.  Mom 4 Life fan Trisha Wieber reminded us of this when she recently posted the following on our facebook page:

Poor Trisha!  Have you been missing us on facebook too?  Facebook has implemented some sneaky new money making tactics.  Businesses now have the option to pay to have their posts made more visible by their fans.  This means that your news feed is filling up with paid-for-posts and you may be missing out on updates from pages you really want to hear from!

Thankfully it is an easy fix.  As long as you have “Liked” us (ahem-it’s okay I’ll wait while you click here to take care of that. . . all taken care of?  Great, let’s continue), now simply click on the LIKED button in the upper right hand aera of our page (below our main image) and activate the “Show in News Feed” option. Now you should be all set.  No more missing out on great information, articles or sales.

Make sure you do this for all your favorite pages so the content you see will be what YOU want to see.

Thank you to all who attended!

Thank you to Amy for the amazing gift of using her studio, time and tallent to make the day a sucess!

Thank you to the Mom 4 Life team for helping make this event a reality (without also ensuing a nervious breakdown).

Thank you God for holding back the rain!

Amy Waddington’s Photography Studio
602 East Garden, Suite #1
Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho 83814
Click here to see this location on Google Maps

I see that this is happening at Amy Waddington’s  photography studio, who is Amy Waddington?

There are a lot of great things that could be said about Amy.  She is a fantastically gifted photographer with a beautiful studio and a great eye (just look at some of her photos below).  But what I love most about Amy is not her great eye, but instead her big heart.  On one of the hardest days of my life (the day I gave birth to our stillborn son Sawyer) it was Amy who came and captured those brief and fleeting moments for our family (free of charge!).  Talented AND generous?  What’s not to love?!  I heart Amy and know you will be too, please come and see for yourself!

I saw you mentioned 5 minute family* photos, tell me more about that!

We (Mom 4 Life and Amy Waddington) are putting together a really speical slide show celebrating motherhood.  As moms we all have a unique story, yet, we all share the lifelong journey of motherhood.  What does being a Mom 4 Life mean to you?  Answer that question in one sentence and display it proudly in a beautiful photo with your kids.  Amy will edit the photos and I will put them together in a slide show with accompanying music for a beautiful tribute to your journey!

*For this specific shoot we will just feature mom and her kids.

What will the slide show be used for?

The slideshow with accompanying music will be created displaying all of the fun and creative ways that being a Mom 4 Life has meaning for you.  This video may also include some short video segments from the photo shoot.  It will be shared online by Mom 4 Life and Amy Waddington.  A public link will be available so that you may also view and share the final video with family and friends.  No personal or family names will be used in the video to protect your privacy.

I want to take advantage of the 5 minute photo shoot, how do I reserve a spot?

Great!  Click here to RSVP and leave a comment letting us know your prefered time slots (please leave more than one if you can) or if you are not on facebook, leave a comment here of your top time preferences and we will email you back with your time slot.  Please remember that spots are limited and are filled on a first come, first serve basis so act quick!

What should I (and my kids) wear for the photographs?

Your choice of clothing is very important for a photo shoot. Clothing can really make or break a successful session. It is important to remember  to stay true to your style but also keep in mind what looks good on camera. We are creating art and clothing is a tool to make that art come to life.  I recommend wearing clothing that is embellished (ruffles, buttons, worn out jeans, patches, fur and/or anything that has texture to it. These types of  clothing photograph great and it also adds another element besides the subject. I also recommend color and lots of it! Go bold, layer bright colors and mix patterns. Please check out Amy’s galleries and blog to get ideas from others. She also has a “clothing” suggestion tab on her blog. Go check it out! =)

What time should I arrive?

Each photo session will be short and sweet.  Our goal is to keep it to about 5 minutes.  Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time slot.  We will take a photo of you and your kids holding your answer to our question, “What does being a Mom 4 Life mean to you?” and (if desired) one without the sign (that you may choose to purchase).  We will also have some fun goodies waiting for you (and your kids) inside the studio so plan to come early or stay a bit later to enjoy all that we have planned for you.

What if I would like to purchase the photo of myself and my kids?

Amy will take a photo of you and your kids both with and without your written response to our question.  These images will be available to preview and purchase once they have been edited.  Amy is generously donating her time to help us with this fun project.  If you are pleased with the photo, we encourage you to consider purchasing it as a fun reminder of your day!

I am not interseted in the photo shoot but would like to come for the open house, tell me more!

Regardless of if you plan on getting your photo taken, we hope you will stop by for our Open House.  We will have a wide assortment of Mom 4 Life products marked down as much as 50% to celebrate our 7th Anniversary.  In addition, we will also have refreshments (for the moms and the kids) as well as some free gifts!

We hope to see you there!

Welcome to the new blog!

By Heather Ledeboer | Category: Current Affairs | Posted Thursday, July 29, 2010

Blog posts have been a little sparse lately (perhaps you noticed).  The reason is that we have been waiting on baited breath for the new blog transfer which just happened (ta-da!).  The update is now complete and we are very excited for you to tell us what you think.  You will notice that the music player is not yet installed–you can look for that to be added soon (it will be in the lower right hand area of the blog under the FeedBurner link).  The default setting will have the music off, so if you want to listen while you read, simply click play:).  I also noticed that some images from some blog posts did not properly transfer so we will be working on getting those fixed.  If you find a blog post that has missing photos, please feel free to leave a comment on that post and that will help us find all the posts that need updated faster!  Some new features of this new blog that you may enjoy:

  • A search bar: the search bar at the top of the blog will allow you to locate past blog posts more easily.  Want to find the craft post using a Scrabble board? (which by the way, I see is one of the blog posts that needs updated images)  Search for “scrabble”!
  • Tweet it: if you use Twitter, you can share your favorite content with one simple click at the top right of each blog post!
  • Share it: at the bottom of each blog post you will find a link that says, “Share Your Thoughts!” clicking on this link will bring you directly to the comments area.  From here you can leave a comment or chose to share the content of the blog post via facebook, twitter, email or a variety of other ways with just one click–knock yourself out!
  • Subscribe to comments: if you leave a comment and want to be notified of follow up responses, simply check the box!
  • Visit mom4life.com: Looking to visit our website?  Simply click on the image in the upper right hand corner to be taken directly to Mom 4 Life.
  • New categories: The categories (and sub-categories) have been reorganized to make it easier to find past content that interests you.
  • Sawyer’s Story: Many have asked me to group posts related to my journey losing our son Sawyer together for easy reference.  I have done that in this new category.  I am still in the process of getting all the posts correctly filed here, but it should be done soon.
  • At a glance: if you are away from the blog for a while and want to quickly see what posts are new or want to see which posts have been most popular simply scroll under the blog topics and check out that info in box–easy peasy!  I will soon also add a tab titled “Heather’s Favorites” where I will link to my favorite posts.
  • Subscribe: many of you already subscribe to our blog post via email but if you don’t and want to, you can do so by adding your email to the box on the lower right side of the page.

Phew, that makes me tired just looking at that list:)!

ALERT: I have been working hard each night on my manuscript.  This is when I would normally write blog posts so if you don’t hear from me quite as often in the next few weeks, please don’t worry that I got stranded somewhere in my mini-van or am buried in a pile of Cheerios.  I am here burning the midnight oil like a young college student pretending that I don’t really need that much sleep and will be anxious to blog more in the near future when my manuscript is finalized!

So tell me, what do you think of the new blog?  What do you like best? Any changes you would like to see?

KinderKord and Kaden’s Kisses

By Heather Ledeboer | Category: Current Affairs | Posted Wednesday, June 2, 2010

KinderKord Wrist to Wrist Retractable Connection-

The KinderKord has been drastically reduced from $23.99 to $17.50.

Better than than, $15.00 of each sale (while our current stock lasts), will be donated to Kaden's Kisses in honor of the mom who won our MotherLoad contest.

Jennifer established Kaden's Kisses to help relieve the financial burdens of families faced with burying a child, after her 2-1/2 year old son died in an accident.

We encourage you to order a KinderKord to keep your child safe this summer and help us support a great charity helping so many others.
