This little piggy got painted for the first time
By Heather Ledeboer | Category: Hot New Finds | Posted Wednesday, June 17, 2009
A while back I came across some natural water based nail polish for kids called Piggy Paint. I was sent a sample to try out with Ashlyn and wanted to share it with you. I had actually never painted Ashlyn's nails before using Piggy Paint. The reason is that I knew that there are chemicals in nail polish that are unsafe, but didn't know of a safe alternative. As mentioned on their website, "Piggy Paint™ is specially formulated from God’s natural ingredients and dries to a hard, durable finish. There are no toxic chemicals; it’s free of formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, biphenyl A, ethyl acetate and acetone." If you want to read more about the dangers of most nail polish, I found this article on the Earth Mama Angel Baby website to be helpful and informative.
What I love about Piggy Paint is that both the polish and remover are non-toxic and odorless, yet wear the same as traditional polishes.
Ashlyn was VERY excited to be painted up "like a princess" and I will say that it was more fun for me too knowing that the product I was exposing her to was safe. She was of course very excited to show off her beautiful nails. I found that it is really important to paint a few coats of polish on and give them a good chance to dry (their website suggests using a hair dryer) in order to help it really set. Ashlyn has a habit of sucking on her two middle fingers when she is tired. I found that these two fingers were the first to lose the polish (made me pretty glad this stuff is non-toxic). I painted my toes with this paint to see how it would hold up and found that it did quite well (I won't go into detail about how awkward it was for me to paint my nails being so pregnant:)! After about 2 weeks it was starting to show some wear but overall was still looking good (and I have been wearing a mix of shoes both open and closed toe).
Piggy Paint has offered Mom 4 Life readers a chance to win a $15.00 gift certificate for use on their site. By Heather Ledeboer | Category: Hot New Finds | Posted Wednesday, June 3, 2009
Perhaps you are trying to figure out something unique for a dad in your life.
Although ties, socks and a shaver might seem like the perfect Father’s Day gift idea, more than 50 percent of today’s dads said that they prefer one thing—a trendy electronic (according to a national survey conducted in June 2008). Yeah, that’s right; dad’s today are eager to try the latest and greatest gadgets too! The Vue personal video network is a wire-free video system that tech savvy or tech challenged dad’s will enjoy receiving this Father’s Day and no doubt utilize on a daily basis. With the Vue personal video network fathers will be able to see their families, pets and homes from virtually anywhere (the office, while they’re traveling, from an iPhone, etc.).
This system is NOT your traditional cumbersome and complicated IP camera, and it’s not a webcam either. The Vue personal video network is simple to set up and easy to use. It uses miniature cameras and new, innovative wireless networking technology that allows remote live viewing simplicity. The Vue will enable dad’s to connect with family, keep tabs on home events as they happen and easily capture everyday moments to save and share.
