DIY: Closet Organizers

By Heather Ledeboer | Category: It Worked 4 Me, Organize Me!

Mom 4 Life DeAnna (who is also a military mom) emailed me this great do it yourself closet organization idea (she also suggested doing an online search for "Cute Closet Organizers" to get more fun ideas of shapes, colors and materials to use):

"All I did was use the closet organizers I ordered from One Step Ahead when Alissa was a baby as a template.  I traced it onto an empty cereal box in the recycle bin, and glued on scrapbook paper I had sitting in my craft briefcase.  I glued one side on first and cut it out, then glued paper on the other side and cut around it.  Also, after gluing each side, I let the organizers sit under a saucer and bowl to help keep the paper flat while drying (I used a permanent glue stick).  Of course, I didn't take the time to use a craft cutter or craft scissors to make them look perfect, but it didn't take much time, and I can still make more if I like – you could always make organizers for seasonal clothing, etc.  You could use them in your own closet if you wanted to separate maternity, nursing, etc.  It would be really cute to use fabric to cover the cardboard, too.  Anyway, simple project =)  I used my Brother P-Touch labeler to make the size labels, as it was quicker than using a contrasting paper and writing the sizes on there."
