This little piggy got painted for the first time

Piggy_paint_button A while back I came across some natural water based nail polish for kids called Piggy Paint.  I was sent a sample to try out with Ashlyn and wanted to share it with you.  I had actually never painted Ashlyn's nails before using Piggy Paint.  The reason is that I knew that there are chemicals in nail polish that are unsafe, but didn't know of a safe alternative.  As mentioned on their website, "Piggy Paint™ is specially formulated from God’s natural ingredients and dries to a hard, durable finish. There are no toxic chemicals; it’s free of formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, biphenyl A, ethyl acetate and acetone."  If you want to read more about the dangers of most nail polish, I found this article on the Earth Mama Angel Baby website to be helpful and informative.

DSC_5052

What I love about Piggy Paint is that both the polish and remover are non-toxic and odorless, yet wear the same as traditional polishes.

Ashlyn was VERY excited to be painted up "like a princess" and I will say that it was more fun for me too knowing that the product I was exposing her to was safe.  She was of course very excited to show off her beautiful nails.  I found that it is really important to paint a few coats of polish on and give them a good chance to dry (their website suggests using a hair dryer) in order to help it really set.  Ashlyn has a habit of sucking on her two middle fingers when she is tired.  I found that these two fingers were the first to lose the polish (made me pretty glad this stuff is non-toxic).  I painted my toes with this paint to see how it would hold up and found that it did quite well (I won't go into detail about how awkward it was for me to paint my nails being so pregnant:)!  After about 2 weeks it was starting to show some wear but overall was still looking good (and I have been wearing a mix of shoes both open and closed toe).

DSC_5053

Piggy Paint has offered Mom 4 Life readers an exclusive 15% of anything on their website including sale items!  Simply use the code: 4LIFE15L  The expiration on this discount is June 30, 2009.  Also if you spend $25, shipping is FREE!  Enjoy!

Perhaps you are trying to figure out something unique for a dad in your life.

Singing praises for the Smart Mom teething necklace

I got this email from Mom 4 Life, Cindi (who is the mom inventor behind our adorable Yaya rag blankets) and wanted to share with you:

"OH MY GOODNESS. My eyes are watering from laughing so hard. Heather where do I start? I have eyed these teething pendantsfor a while and then forgot about them until you had the give away. I ordered one and got it today (by the way awesome fast shipping). So I put it on and Caden grabbed it instantly and went to the mouth. He had the biggest smile because mommy finally is able to wear jewelry and something that isn't called a "no no", that he can chew on. I tried to put him down and he smiled and wouldn't let go of my necklace. I laughed so hard. Then he followed me around in his walker while I made dinner, pulling on my shorts. I picked him up and he gave me this funny grin and grabbed the necklaceand instantly started smiling and chewing on it. He is chewing on it as I type. TOOO CUTE. I absolutely LOVE it. Too bad it doesn't come with a drool catcher.

I just can't stop smiling and saying how glad I am that I bought it. It is so funny how much he loves this.

Then last night for the first time in a long time Caden got out of the bath without screaming at me. He just grabbed my necklace and started chewing. I think the name "smart mom" teething necklace is appropriate. I am definitely going to be promoting this product and telling them they have to get it at mom4life of course. :)"

KindNotes Contest

Logo_kindnotes

Last week I came across a unique company called KindNotes that sells jars of messages in mini envelopes for the recipient to open each day.  They have ready-made designs or customized options.  They asked me for ideas for messages to put in a jar themed for giving to your children and I suggested that they do a contest to get some great ideas submitted.  They liked the idea and have posted their contest on their blog.  I know you like to share your thoughts and ideas so I thought you also might like entering this contest with a chance to win 2 dozen assorted miniature envelopes/blank papers to slip into your children's lunch boxes or even in your husband's wallet for a surprise:)!

Celebrate Earth Day everyday with our products!

At Mom 4 Life we carry a wide variety of proudcts that are Earth friendly.

A stylish way to celebrate Earth Day!

Fleurville makes an amazing line of diaper bags in several shapes and sizes (for moms and dads)!  Even cooler than their styles is their commitment to the environment.  Most of their products are PVC Free and use a technology called Green LAM.  Read below to see more about what this means.

DJ Bag by Fleurville - Perfect For Dads- Lexie Tote by Fleurville-  Mothership by Fleurville-

Sling Tote by Fleurville-

Green-LAM™ is created with ®Fleurville’s very environmentally friendly polyurethane laminate Green-LAM™. Green-LAM™ has superior attributes like moisture–repellency, UV-resistance, and overall durability. Most other bag companies use PVC for this application. We don’t. We hope you share our commitment to teaching children responsible stewardship of our environment.

What does PVC Free mean to you? It means that any Fleurville products with this mark are guaranteed to be free of polyvinyl chloride, or PVC. PVC is the only major plastic that contains chlorine, so it is unique in the hazards it creates. PVC production fuses vinyl chloride molecules with toxic metals such as lead and cadmium, which are added as plasticizers and stabilizers. Because of the chemical properties of chlorine, the by-products of PVC production tend to be far more toxic, more persistent in the environment, and more likely to build up in the food supply and the bodies of people than otherwise similar chemicals that do not contain chlorine.  Many other bag manufacturers use PVC because it is cheap. Fleurville doesn't.

Want to be a parent evaluator for PTPA? Here is how. . .

I wanted to pass on this information to you from PTPA, as I think it would be a fun opperunitity for many of you to test new products:

There are hundreds of new products targeted to babies, toddlers, children and their parents that hit the stores each month. It’s impossible for us parents to keep up with it all.  During these challenging economic times, we need to be certain that our dollars are being spent wisely. That’s where Parent Tested Parent Approved Media comes in!  They discover and appraise the latest and great products designed for children and families. PTPA Media is unique in that they believe it’s the parents themselves who should have the majority of say in what makes a product great. By having parents test the products personally, they can ensure the product is useful, valuable and can stand the biggest test of all - our children! Their parent evaluators love the process because it is easy, fun and best of all they get to keep the product that they review.  The easy to use yet effective online evaluation system ensures they capture all the necessary details from the parent testers so they can determine what products win the PTPA Seal of Approval.

Other perks of becoming a tester is you can share your opinions with other parents looking for help when shopping for family related products.  PTPA is like your best girl friend. You can trust us them to share with you the latest and greatest products and help save you time and money! Award winning products are selected based on value, functionality, quality and appeal.

How to become a parent evaluator for PTPA Media:
If you’re interested in becoming an evaluator and receiving free products, visit them online at http://www.ptpamedia.com/ and click on "Evaluate a Product".

If you find a product you love that we don't have on Mom 4 Life, be sure to let me know:)!

Check this out, a sandwich bag alternative!

Wrapnmat

I love products that help me cut down on the amount of waste that I put into the garbage.  I also love products that allow me to use less plastic.  When I find one that does both, I need to share it with you!  the Wrap-N-Mat is pretty great.  Did you know that over 20,000,000 baggies are discarded and added to our landfills each day?  The environmentally-friendly re-usable wrap replaces the need for sandwich bags and also serves as a place mat providing a clean eating surface anywhere!

WRAP-N-MAT® Wraps are the only RE-USABLE sandwich wrap and place-mat in one. Simply place the sandwich or other snack food on the mat and fold the WRAP-N-MAT® Wrap from left to right, top to bottom. Close the hook and loop tab; it’s that easy. Once opened, the place-mat feature works great at work, school cafeterias or picnic tables. They are easy to clean, just hand wash and air dry.  The original size is 12.6” x 12.6”

Features:
* Eco-Friendly
* Perfect for work, school lunches, picnics, or anytime you're on the go!
* Wrap-n-mat can be used over and over.
* Convenient and easy to use!
* Inner lining keeps food fresh.

The main disadvantage that I could find is that they do use plastic in the lining so I am not fully avoiding plastic, just reducing the amount I buy and throw away if they replace my sandwich bags.  Thankfully and importantly, the plastic is BPA and Phthalte free.  The company mentions this: "Due to the lining, our WRAP-N-MAT® Wraps are NOT intended for hot foods, to be heated or to be microwaved.  As with any plastic, placing hot food upon the lining will make it melt."  This isn't a big deal as I don't do that in my sandwich bags anyway.

The second disadvantage is that it sounds like it won't last forever (which I guess shouldn't be a huge surprise, not much lasts forever).  The company says, "A WRAP-N-MAT® Wrap can last up to six months of use without having to be replaced.  A disposable plastic bag can take 1,000 years to decompose."  I will be interested to see if indeed it needs replacing around six months.

The last note is that the craftmanship isn't perfect, just a few details like the label and Velco not being sewn in the center, but it is totally fine for holding my food in place so I can overlook that!  Now if only they could have had it in something other than a plastic bag for the retail packaging ;) . . . !

All in all I like it and look forward to using my new little find and think you might too.

Here is where I first found the Wrap-N-Mat where you can find some other products geared in this same direction of using less plastic.  I also encourage you to visit Racheal's blog where she covers different topics related to being eco-friendly.  Price on this site is $7.50 for one or $12.25 for two.

I would love to get your feedback on this mom invented product, what do you think?

Annual preemie onesie drive hosted by a hurting mom

One of my Mom 4 Life blog readers send me a link to a blog of a mom who says this in her profile:

"I'm 27 and a follower of Jesus Christ. I was blessed with a pregnancy in May of 2007. My daughter Carly was born 12 weeks early and lived for 4 months before passing from a heart defect on 3/9/08. Then one month later much to our surprise we were pregnant again. Things were going great and then suddenly things took a turn for the worst when on 11/7/08 our daughter Hannah was born sleeping. Like I said I'm a follower of Christ and I'm leaning on Him for my strength and courage to make it through each and every day."

Ohhhhh, my heart just aches for her.  She knows my pain and MORE!  She has found something to do with her pain and I wanted to post it here in case any of you would like to come along side of her cause.  The following was cut and pasted directly from her blog, where you can go to find out more.  (At the bottom of this post I have a way you can easily help out without moving from your computer).

This is the first annual preemie onesie drive being held by me (Rachel) and Ryan. We are collecting preemie onesies to donate to the babies that are staying in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). Ryan and I had our first daughter Carly in the NICU for 4 months before passing away from a heart defect. I know as well as other preemie parents of children in the NICU know that it's hard for your child to be there. It's hard in many ways. It's hard as far as gas is concerned because of the many daily trips to the hospital. A lot of times one of the parents (usually the moms) quit working to be at the hospital with their child as much as possible. This makes funds tight. Paying bills can become a struggle. And it makes it hard to buy your new little one the cute outfits that moms want to see their child in. So this is why I'm having this preemie onesie drive. To help parents enjoy seeing their little boy or girl dressed in a cute outfit. Carly got a cute outfit while she was in the NICU as a anonymous donation. It made me feel completely blessed. It was nice for someone to do this for her. Being in the NICU is a very stressful time. Some are only there for days while others are there for months and even over a year. Simple acts of kindness fills peoples hearts with happiness. I'm doing this donation in memory of Carly who passed away on 3/9/08. I will deliver the donated onesies on 3/9/09. And plan to do this as an annual thing.

Ways you can become involved.....

1. You can mail donated preemie onesies:

Rachel Mays
8701 Hornwood Ct.
Charlotte, NC 28215

2. You can donate money to go toward the purchase of new preemie onesies.

3. You can place a flyer in your church, staff break room at your job, or local businesses with a box to help gather donations and mail them to the PO Box. (If you gather a large donation I will gladly pay for shipping).

**I will make a flyer and send it to your email to print if you would like to help in that way.

I will keep updated post on onesies received. At the time of donation I will have several pictures to post on that special day.  If you have any questions please feel free to ask. You can reach me at either carlynicoleelliotte@gmail.com or at carlynhannah@yahoo.com

Thanks for your help and participation,
Rachel and Ryan

I think it would be super if you want to contribute to this mom's onesie drive.  Mom 4 Life has teamed up with My HodgePodgerie and would like to offer you 20% off her super cute onesies if you enter "newborn" in the customer comments during checkout.  (We will refund you 20% when we process your order).  To make it super easy for you, we suggest entering the shipping address as:
Rachel Mays
8701 Hornwood Ct.
Charlotte, NC 28215

We will email you when your order is processed and you can be assured that Rachel will receive your gift--the newborn size would be a great choice for this drive.

Another book giveaway!

Update: our winner (chosen randomly from Random.org) was Stephanie.
Thank you so much for your feedback on the survey, it is now closed.

Secrets of the Safety Goddess I got another book in the mail recently.  This one is called "Secrets of the Safety Goddess" and is written by Britt Michaelian, mom of three and CEO of Responsible Family Company.  This book is a modern safety guide for busy parents.  I had the privilege of being sent the manuscript by the author before it went to print and was able to provide her with my feedback which was published in the front cover of the book!  I stated, "The Safety Goddess is a fantastic book for parents who are not sure where to turn for answers, but who are looking for ingenuity.  As a seasoned mother, expert and leader in the child safety field, Michaelian brings parents exactly what they need to get the job done right!  The ideas taught in this book are sure to be referenced again and again!"

In addition to this book, Britt also created a DVD called Care for Kids: The Essential Guide to Preparing Caregivers which I think is a fantastic resource for moms to have on hand and ask baby sitters to watch.

So, if you would like to win this book for free, simply fill out this quick one question survey for me asking for your opinion on a possible new product.  I will choose one winner from those that fill out the survey.  You have until Monday the 19th at 9PM to enter.  The winner will be listed here and also contacted personally, thanks for your feedback and good luck!

Book recomendation and giveaway

Update: Our winner, Jill has been contacted.  Thank you for your input on my survey, 50 of you responded and I have now closed the survey.

The subject of sexual abuse is not one that I quickly think to talk about with my children yet it is a topic that I believe is very important to address.  I want my kids to know what is appropriate and what is not, I want them to know who to talk to if they ever feel uncomfortable.  But am I talking to them about this?  When is a good time to do that?  What is a good way to touch on this subject in an age appropriate way?

Mybodybelongstome Recently I was sent the book, "My Body Belongs To Me".  It is written by Jill Starishevsky, a mom of two and a prosecutor of child abuse and sex crimes in New York City.  She wrote this book to send the message that kids don't have to endure abuse in silence.  Parents can use this book as a tool with our children to encourage dialog.  Jill says, "It is my hope that by educating girls and boys about this taboo subject, My Body Belongs to Me will prevent them from becoming victims in the first place."

I applaud Jill for taking action in an area that she saw a need and helping to equip us as parents to educate our children.  I read this book with Hunter and found that it lead comfortably into talking about this subject in a way that might have been more difficult to do otherwise.

The book "My Body Belongs To Me" can be purchased on Jill's website for $14.95 and a portion of all proceeds will be donated to organizations dedicated to the prevention of child sexual abuse.

You also have a chance to win a copy for free here.  To be entered to win, simply fill out this one question survey asking for your feedback on a possible new product.  You have until 9 PM PST on Friday the 16th to enter.  The winner will be posted here and also contacted personally, good luck!

Incidentally, Jill is also the mom behind the Mom 4 Life product, How's My Nanny.  HowsMyNanny.com is an easy to use service that enables anyone to communicate problems they witness to parents, keeping nannies on watch, and children safe.  Good work Jill!!

Traveling for Thanksgiving or Christmas?

Traveling is such an adventure…and packing for your trip used to be no big deal….and those new airline baggage fees – no problem - you were once the queen of light travel.   But now there’s BABY!   Heck, just a trip to the grocery store requires an entire arsenal of products to have “just in case”.  How in the world are you going to fit into two bags an entire week’s worth of clothes (for any kind of weather), diapers, wipes, diaper cream, lotions, bath products, bath toys, not to mention the formula, cereal, food, spoons, bowls, and its February in Northern Minnesota, where in the world will I find a tube of sunscreen……..”forget it - we’re staying home”, you suddenly declare!

Well, help has arrived!   At least a week before you leave on your trip, just log onto JetSetBabies and place your on-line order for all those baby supplies.   Diapers, wipes, creams, lotions, bath products, swim pants, beach toys, sunscreen, food, formula, utensils, bottles, nipples, and many more products that you would normally use at home…you can now have shipped directly to your vacation destination.  When you arrive at your hotel your package of baby supplies is waiting for you at the front desk – and sometime even in your room.   What could be more luxurious.

JetSetBabies has been in business since 2003 and has delivered worldwide thousands of package for traveling parents.  They track your order the entire way and call the hotel before you arrive to make sure that everything arrived safely.  They find out where the hotel is holding your package and how they will get it to you when you arrive. Nothing could be easier.  Now relax, and enjoy that vacation with your new baby.

Feedback for the Diaper/Wipee Changing Pad from Baby Jakes

I wanted to share this feedback from Rosie who won the Diaper/Wipee Changing Pad from Baby Jakes  giveaway a while back.  She wrote:

I was the lucky winner of the Baby Jakes Diaper/Wipee Clutch and I wanted to say thank you! It is perfect to keep in the car for when you don't need nor want to bring the whole baby bag with you. Not only is it the right size but the pink, brown and green pocka dots are stylish enough so that it doesn't scream "diaper carrier". Thanks again! Rosie

Project Pink Campaign

I recently found out about this program and wanted to pass it on to you:

In an effort to spotlight early breast cancer detection and remind women everywhere not to “duck a breast exam”, Munchkin Inc, designer and manufacturer of clever infant and toddler products, has launched its 3rd Annual Project Pink campaign. Project Pink is a multifaceted program involving both consumer and celebrity components, which are all brought together online through a new Web site at http://www.munchkin.com/projectpink/.

The program includes:
• Email A Duck, Raise A Buck – This viral component enables individuals to email friends a virtual duck that reminds them to participate in routine breast exams.  Users may track their ducks as they get forwarded around, and in turn, Munchkin will donate $0.05 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for every duck forwarded.
• Buy Your Own Duck – Created to be a visual reminder of routine breast exams, Munchkin’s 2008 limited edition Project Pink Bath Ducks will be available online and at select retailers nationwide for $3.00.  One hundred percent of the net profits from the sale of these ducks will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
• Celebrity Duck eBay Auction – Celebrity participants from Courteney Cox to Tori Spelling have shown support of Project Pink by donating hand-decorated and autographed limited edition ducks.   Each week in October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a number of celebrity-decorated ducks will be available for auction exclusively on eBay with all proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Please visit www.munchkin.com/projectpink/ for more information on how you can get involved with Munchkin’s efforts in the fight against breast cancer.

Review of the Bravado Body Silk Seamless Bra

I received the following email this week and wanted to share it with you.  I have also used (and really like) this bra myself:

The Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bra by Bravado-I absolutely LOVE the Bravado Body Silk Seamless bra!!!!  It is so soft and comfy.  It fits your body like a glove and is very stretchy (reminds me of a sports bra).  It also only comes in 4 sizes, so each bra fits of range of sizes so it can stretch and shrink as your body changes, and you have less worry about ordering the wrong size. The Body Silk Seamless bra is definitely the bra I have been waiting for all of my life!  It’s great as a maternity bra and a nursing bra…super comfortable.  I think I could even sleep in it.  If you are thinking of ordering a nursing bra then this is the one! EZSchoolSupplies.com for ordering school supplies

I was contacted by a company that offers a great service (order your school supplies online).  I asked them to send me an intro to their company and am sharing it with you:

Based out of Denver, Colorado, EZSchoolSupplies.com is an alternative way to shop for school supplies. Simple and convenient, parents can easily choose from 26,000 name brand products to get the exact school supplies they need for their children. We eliminate the dreaded scavenger hunt most parents embark on to find their children’s school supplies. This means no taking children to the store, no long lines, and no wasting gas!

If your school is registered at EZSchoolSupplies.com, their school supply lists should be ready to order and will be packaged and shipped within 7-10 business days. It is very easy to register a school. Once registered, 10% of the total purchases are donated back to the school each year. This money can be used to fund parent support groups, school clubs and organizations, or any group that may need fundraising. All of our orders can be delivered directly to your home and unlike other online websites, we take orders year round. We have no deadlines and no cut offs.

If your child’s school is not registered at EZSchoolsupplies.com, you can quickly build a customized school supplies package. Using the “Shop for Supplies” tool, individual items can be added to your shopping cart or to a pre-made school package. The supplies are then sent just as if your school was registered. Save time and energy, shop today the EZ way!

Razberry Teether Feedback by Heather Ledeboer

I wanted to share some feedback I got last week for our Razberry Teethers.  Toreta has a beautiful daugther that she shared as well in her photos:).  Later I was sent another photo and more feedback on this item that I have also added:

Hey Heather,

Just wanted to let you know I received my most recent purchase of two Razberry Teethers for my 5 month old, Rachel. She is not teething yet (as far as we know) but she is really starting to chew on things. She loves to chew on her pacifier but it is too slick to really sink her gums into very well. When I first saw these new teethers with their bumpy texture on your website I just HAD to have one (or two ha!). I couldn't wait to get them and let my baby try them out. Well, needless to say, Rachel absolutely loves the texture of the teether and seems to really be soothed by it. I am a returning customer and I will be back again soon. Thank you for this new product!

I have enclosed a couple photos of Rachel with her new teether for you to see.

Thanks again,
~Toreta M

Pict0089 Pict0097

My 7 month old is most certainly teething and having a hard time getting those buggers to come through. His Razberry has been a life saver! This has become one of his most favorite things. I also just bought him the Teethifier from you guys and he's loving that too! Thank you for offering such GREAT products at such awesome prices. It certainly enables those of us on a tight budget to try these products. Much love from us and our babies! -Kristina

Diapers and more at Diapers.com

I wanted to mention a website that is handy for busy moms and that I have used on several occasions.  Some of the items they offer on their site are available on Mom4Life.com in the diapering, bathtime and feeding categories but there are many things they offer that we don't carry so take a peek and see if it might be handy for you.  They offer free shipping for orders over $50.00 and if you use disposable diapers this can be a handy way to save yourself trips to the store.  If you use the referral code "mom4life" you will get $10.00 off your first order.  The site is www.Diapers.com.  If you do find that they offer something we carry at a lower price, don't forget that we offer price matching so just contact us and we will work out the details with you.

Britta's good bye sale by Heather Ledeboer

**Update: this sale is now over, thank you to all of you who participated!!**

Today is Britta's last day working at Mom 4 Life.  She is getting married on August 2nd and after that her and her husband will be moving out of the area.  We have been so blessed to have her on our team.  She has a lovely personality that is both bright and cheery and her organizational skills and willingness to learn new things has been a wonderful asset.  If you haven't yet seen our 3 minute "Office Video" you really should, Britta offers a proper tutorial on cleaning toilets and even offers some fashion advice;).

To give Britta a proper send off, I would like to welcome you to join us in saying good bye.  If you call to place an order today (July 22) between the hours of 9AM and 3PM PST ask for Britta.  If you mention the super secret code "good bye and congratulations" Britta will be happy to deduct 12% off your total (since she is getting married on the 2nd I wanted a 2 in the discount but 2% just didn't seem very flashy).  Be sure to fill her in on any wonderful wedding/marriage advice while you have her on the phone;)!  We will be enjoying a lunch break/good bye party between 11:00-12:15PM PST so if you call during that time, we will likely not answer the phone (we will be busy stuffing our face with yummy food and enjoying 15 minute massages) so you might want to call around that lunch break to talk to someone in person.

If you are not able to call to order but still want in on the fun you can also use this link to access the website directly and have your 12% discount automatically applied.  Please note that you have to use this link to get the code to work and this code is ONLY GOOD FOR JULY 22ndThis discount code cannot be combined with any other discount codes but can be used for items that are already on sale.

We will miss you Britta!!!

We are happy to announce that we will be welcoming Kristen back to our office starting Wednesday the 23rd of July.  She has been working from home for the last 6 months (since having her daughter) and is now ready to whoop it up in the office here with us girls again.  It is great to have you back Kristen, we missed you!

Spring cleaning time (DEALS) by Heather Ledeboer

Ok so my lovely assistant Britta and I are having a good time spring cleaning some random products in our shop, want to help us?  Read on!

Please note: These items are either slightly flawed or no longer carried on our site.  I prefer not to have them returned (pretty please, we are trying to clean out our office) so give them away or sell them on eBay if you don't want them:)!  Shipping is free on all items listed.  Costs mentioned are per item.

To purchase: Email info@mom4life.com and let us know what you want (or you can call our toll free number 800-928-4905 and you can pay over the phone).  We are not in the office over the weekend so email is the best way to go (first come, first serve).  As items sell we will note that, have fun!

The fight against Skin Cancer and a free sample for you!

Alexcompany_2 With the Skin Cancer and other sun related illnesses on the rise, sun protection through clothing and swimwear is the best way to ensure your family’s health against the Sun’s harmfully UVA/UVB rays. Sun tan lotion and block are good, but one needs to reapply it often and the application times vary greatly according to the UV index that day, the skin type of the person using the lotion, and whether any swimming is involved. Even if you are wearing sunblock, most doctors would tell you to avoid the sun between the hours of 10am and 4pm and then stay in the shade whenever your shadow is shorter than you are. A even greater concern is over exposing one’s children to the sun at an early age and teaching them such bad habits that they could emulate throughout their life. A major point of fact is that just _one_ blistering sunburn before the age of 18 can double one’s chances of ending up with a deadly skin cancer later in life.

However, there is good news! Much of this risk can be avoided by wearing UV Clothing and UV Swimwear, which eliminates these worries and offers a greater degree of security. A leader in such sun protective UV clothing and UV swimwear is the Alex & Me Company (www.AlexandMe.com). Alex & Me has been around since 1997 and they are widely considered the industry experts in the consumer UV sun protective field. Moreover, Alex & Me offers the largest brand selection and the greatest variety of such tested and certified UV sun protective apparel. They educate and urge their thousands of loyal customer to not only think that such UV clothing is just for the beach. Alex & Me’s UV sun protective offerings include shirts, shorts, hats, pants, skirts, sarongs, and dresses for any activity including: swimming, jogging, walking, biking, gardening, shopping or any other activity you can imagine under the sun.

This company has also just introduced a women's spa type sunscreen, SunBotanicals, fused with aromatherapy essences gentle enough for daily use that is dermatologist recommended and tested.  It is a 30 SPF, ultra sheer, multi-vitamin complex, that has UVA/UVB protection and is water resistant. It has been recently dermatologist approved and recommended. Our 2008 SunBotanicals line consists of three  scents, rain, lavender and tropical.   The Skin Cancer Society recommends everyone wear at least a 15 SPF sunscreen daily. With SunBotanicals, the first of its kind, women won’t mind smoothing it on daily! SunBotanicals is the perfect "must have" item for ladies.

To give you a chance to try it out for yourself, Alex & Me has offered to send you a sample of their SunBotanicals sunscreen.  Simply email Missy (mommy2abbey@aol.com) and let her know you found out about her product though our blog and ask her for a free sample while providing your mailing address-Enjoy!
