Go to bed already!
By Heather Ledeboer | Category: The Journey of Motherhood
I have discovered something about myself. If I am up working on the computer at night, I have a hard time stopping. I end up being up very late and at the end I find I am not doing anything productive, just killing time doing things like checking my facebook status instead of crawling into bed. I don’t understand this. This very minute I am writing a blog post instead of going to bed.
Knowing this about myself, I recently started shifting my computer time to earlier in the day so that I didn’t get “caught” online late at night. However, now that I am working on my manuscript, I find that late at night have the most uninterrupted time to edit and write. So once again I am back in the silly temptation to stay up and do nothing once I am “done.”
So while I am still awake, I will show you a few funny photos of Hunter sleeping. See him below surrounded by his books that he was looking at before he fell asleep.
And below is the way he decided to organize and display his CD’s (he recently has been listening to the Narnia books on CD). If you look closely, you will see that he has them set up in chronological order. . .
Hopefully no one will read this post for many hours. . . I am going to bed now:)!
So am I alone in this or does anyone else have this problem of going to bed at night?

I do the same thing. It’s awful. One night I only got 2 hours of sleep because of it…

I’m horrible about that too. It’s like that’s when my energy kicks in and I’m the most productive without distractions. It drives my husband crazy. My Holistic doctor actually prescribed a cortisol manager to help me go to sleep at a reasonable hour. I just can’t help but mill around when it’s dark and quiet and I can do whatever I want!

No Heather, you are not alone. I often find myself spending a couple of hours late at night on the computer, and not actually accomplishing anything. I think I use it as a way to unwind…kids are in bed, and I’m free to just check out whatever. You made me laugh though, posting pics of Hunter asleep….it’s like you were really looking for something constructive to do….LOL! So very cute though!

I do.
I was up writing until 4 a.m. on Sunday morning because I got a second wind. Last night I was determined to go to bed by 11 p.m. But I read my Bible first and got so excited by what I was reading that I couldn’t sleep!

Same here -that time of the night when the kid is in bed and the hubby has relinquished control of the remote I can cruise the channels other than Disney I take full advantage and then don’t know when to quit!
Love the pic of Hunter sleeping with his books. My DH finds me looking like that more nights than not!

I’m the worst about staying up waaay to late, but one thing that helped was that I downloaded f.lux. http://www.stereopsis.com/flux/ It dims the screen so you aren’t looking at a “bright” light late at night, which I think was screwing up my bio-clock, so to speak. Also, melatonin that you spray under your tongue.
