My first twitter hate message
By mom4life | Category: The Journey of Motherhood
I will admit it, I still have a little bit of a hard time understanding twitter. I try, I really do. But something about facebook just makes more sense to me (maybe it is the way I can see the name and photo of the person talking and see the conversations all stacked together in a logical way so I don’t mistakenly wonder who is saying what to who and why).
So when I saw this twitter post saying “i.hate.you.mom.4.life.” you can understand why I sat there staring at my computer screen for a few minutes trying to decide if this was directed at me or this woman’s actual mother. After checking out her profile and seeing that see was a college student I decided to feel sorry for her mom.
How about you, do you prefer twitter or facebook (or neither) and why?

I definately prefer Facebook. I have a Twitter account, but don’t really understand how to use it.

@Simah, I am sure you are not alone:)!

I only use Twitter for entries on giveaways. I don’t ‘get’ Twitter. Like you, I prefer Facebook so I can better follow the conversation. I have recently tried to follow a Tweet Chat or two and felt pretty lost. They are very chaotic and move quickly, even if you try to follow along on a Tweet Grid or something similar.

@Trisha W., yes I agree. It is a cool concept for things like group chats but you almost do need to use something like Tweet Grid to try to manage it.

I think your decision to feel sorry for her mom was wise. Personally, I love Twitter. I find there is sometimes too much drama on FB for me.

@bethany actually, oh good I am glad to hear from someone that likes it! What do you use it for?

Maybe it was spam?

@Alisha, I have a filter set up to to notify me whenever someone on Twitter mentions Mom 4 Life. I am learning that some people use the hash tag #mom4life after some comments and statements that are very often (ok practically never) related to my business. This was good to learn because at first I was pretty confused.
! I think this was just an example of someone talking about someone/something else and it just happened to also be my business name.

I don’t get twitter either. Like Trisha I just use it for giveaway entries too. I hear my kids say I hate you to me a lot when they don’t get their way, but they are 5 & 3. I think it would be much more heart breaking to have your grown college student say that…& for life……she is obviously still a spoiled brat….I feel bad for her mom too.

@Vicci Radake, boy isn’t that the truth, hearing those words is always painful but from someone that age and to do it so publically. . . sad:(. Makes me thankful for the relationships I have in my family.

I don’t think she was referring to you, but that was a pretty strong choice of words whoever it is. Since my two year old is regularly addressing me as “I hate you, butt” I can empathize
Regardless, I think you’re GREAT.

@Kira @ Kissing the Joy, yes I bet you can empathize
!! Thanks for your kind support. For the sake of her mom I almost wish he was referring to me!

I know this is going to ruffle some people’s feathers but I don’t like either. We live in a world that is so DISTRACTED from what really matters. We are trying to do TOO MUCH (email, phone calls, blogs, facebook, twitter, etc.) and our families and our own selves are paying the price.
I refuse to do either facebook or twitter knowing that I may face criticism and also be left out from giveaways, coupons, resources, etc. I honestly am frustrated by all the Christians who have joined the world in this facebook craze. Yes, there can be lots of good that can come out of such technology but is it really worth the risks and really the best use of our time?
I understand each person has their own convictions and this is just mine personally. I do a lot of things online and thank God for the invention of the internet. But for now I will limit it’s use and try to keep my focus on the LORD and the job he has for me as a wife and mom.

@Lana, I appreciate your bold statements and even if others would not choose to make the kind of choice you have, I am sure it is always helpful to be introspective about how our time is spent and if that is the best use of it. Facebook can very quickly become a huge time sucker. It is wise to assess if too much time is being spent on it or if the way it is being used is building up your relationships. Thanks for your thoughts!

I prefer Facebook over Twitter. Twitter is easier if you use the lists so you can quickly just see the updates of the friends you really want to follow. Otherwise I find it way to overwhelming. You have the right attitude about that tweet.

@Junebug, yes the lists aspect helps a lot! Thanks for your feedback:)

Neither! I may be the last remaining person to stay off of facebook. I just don’t have the mental energy for it. My life is so busy as it is. Blogs are about all I can take.

@Kendra, Good for you! I got on for business reasons but I can defiantly see the benefit there:).
